With Anthony Morrow set to miss up to a month with a sprained MCL, the Warriors have been granted another hardship exception, which has just been used to sign Anthony Tolliver out of the Idaho Stampede of the D-League. This will be Tolliver's third stint in the NBA, after quick cups of coffee this year with Portland and last year with San Antonio.
Tolliver is a very weak blend of Anthony Morrow and Anthony Randolph; an undersized but long PF/C with mild scoring, rebounding and passing chops who has, oddly, recently started to play like a three-point specialist. He is also described as a very smart player, offensively and defensively. Maybe he can coach!

As a Cal Alum, I'm a big Rod Benson fan. I'm curious to know your thoughts on him and why he's passed over by the Warriors. You guys were talking about Pops Mensah-Bonsu earlier, why not Rod Benson?
I would LUUUUV some Rod Benson, and actually we mentioned him as a superior option when we talked about the signing of Cartier Martin. He projects well as a defender, he's one of the most entertaining personalities in the game, and as a local product, he might even spark a few dozen extra ticket purchases over the rest of the season. I just don't think the Warriors would have a guy like Benson on their radar; his superficial D-league stats are not flashy (particularly in terms of shooting), and this franchise is probably more stupidly afraid than most of a voluble D-leaguer interfering with team chemistry. I'd love to see the Boom Tho movement head back towards Oakland, but I don't think it's in the cards.
As for Tolliver, he sure looks like a solid add on paper. 6'9" 240, credible stats across the board...

...and the nerds find him intriguing:

If his outside shooting holds up better than it did with the Spurs last year, we might have an interesting fella on our hands here. He wouldn't have to do much to be a better stretch four option than Vlad.
Nice to see you're feeling the Boom Tho Movement. I've never seen Tolliver so I really don't know what he brings on the defensive end of the floor; he certainly gets his share of boards, but something about his numbers suggest potential charmin softness. I think it's because I can't name a power forward that chucks from downtown with that sort of frequency that is also a beast in the paint. You would know better than I would tho.
